Gyllyngvase Beach is Falmouth’s most popular beach, during the summer it can get very busy.

Local features:

  • Some on road parking
  • Lifeguards during the summer

The diving:

  • Anytime, high water best but not essential
  • No current
  • Less than 12m
  • Reef
  • Wreck

To the south of Gyllyngvase Beach is a nice sprawling reef with lots of gullies with sandy patches in between. Around high tide it shelves off quite quickly and a maximum depth of around 10m can be achieved. Off of the north side of the reef, on the beach side, there are sea grass beds. Around the reef, towards Swanpool, there are the remains of theĀ  wreck of the ss Ponus.
